What a delight it was to shoot Tj’s ‘64 Impala. It’s like you’ve got the right of passage to do what you please when you have a ride as cool as this. Aftermarket air suspension allows it to cruise low ‘n’ slow or high in the sky. Smiles and thumbs up from passersby, happily moving around as we shoot.

This is the first American car Tj has owned, being more of a JDM type of guy himself. I asked what made him get one of these, and he said it was because it’s the car you hear rappers consistently rap about in their songs.

Part of my process is hunting for a location that flatters the vehicles characteristics. For this shoot I chose Dunedin’s Vogel Street, notable to many for its retro buildings and murals, which suit the Imapla’s streamlimed design and widespread hip-hop acclaim.

This is definitely on the list of the most eye-catching cars on the street. Can you name a more photogenic model than this?
